Dubai, UAE, March 7th, 2008: Doubles tennis stars Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor joined fifteen UAE national tennis champions, including world junior 270 ranked Hamad Abbas, for the annual Tennis Emirates Kids Day at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.
Zimonjic of Serbia and Nestor from Canada, who reached the semi-finals of the doubles tournament at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships, spent half an hour practicing skills and drills with the budding UAE tennis stars of the future.
“They’re extremely talented kids and I’m sure they’ll be playing in this very tournament in the future,” said Nestor.
Nenad Zimonjic was equally impressed with the Arab youngsters.
“Hamad has great shot-making skills and I can see a lot of potential in him,” said Zimonjic, who won last year’s doubles title in Dubai with former partner Fabrice Santoro.
The WTA Tennis Emirates clinic last week was also a tremendous success with around 20 UAE-based Arab girls attending the clinic including Hamad Abbas’ youngster sisters, national champion Fatma Abbas.
Doubles partners Vladmira Uhlirova of the Czech Republic and Galina Voskoboeva of Russia participated in the WTA Kids Days and provided plenty of tips and advise to the young tennis enthusiasts.
