Dugas Kids Day a Swinging Success
- Over two thousand children from thirty schools in Dubai attend Kids Day at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships -
Dubai, UAE, March 3rd, 2008: Budding tennis stars and enthusiasts from over thirty schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi took part in the Dugas sponsored WTA and ATP Kids Day during the award-winning Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.
Clark Francis Tennis Academy has been running the Kids Days since the Dubai Tennis Championships started in 1993 and provides a fabulous show for children in schools around the UAE with tennis drills, games and fun giveaways.
Sheehab Mohammad, 13-years-old from Cambridge International School, said: “I had a wonderful day. I met some of the tennis stars and we received goody bags, caps and prizes which is great.”
Two-hundred children from ‘Right to Play’ were also invited to attend the Dugas Kids Day. Right to Play is a concept which allows local Arab schools to play tennis and introduces Arab youngsters to the sport.
WTA and ATP stars also participate in the Kids Days and join in the various fun-filled activities including mini-tennis. Rennae Stubbs from Australia took part in the WTA Dugas Kids Days and doubles players Simon Aspelin of Sweden and Julian Knowle of Austria featured in the ATP Kids Day.
The tennis stars offered the youngsters advice on their serve and tips on how to improve their shot-making skills.
Julian Knowle said: “We had a fantastic time with the kids, the turnout was great, the weather was perfect and we really enjoyed ourselves.”
