LACOSTE has confirmed its standing as a long-term supporter of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships, one of the most prestigious tennis events. This year LACOSTE is proud to be the official apparel and footwear sponsor of the tournament, providing the outfits for all on-court officials, including line and chair umpires, ball kids, Sony Ericsson WTA and ATP officials.

Turning 75 years this year, LACOSTE celebrates the heritage of the brand and its world of Sport Elegance, created by the founder Rene Lacoste, who was himself a tennis champion, winning titles at the French Open, US Open, Wimbledon and the Davis Cup, before he launched the LACOSTE brand of polo shirts in 1933.

“LACOSTE supports a broad range of sporting events, especially in tennis, and we are pleased to be part of the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships sponsors team,” said LACOSTE Director of External Relations, Philippe Lacoste. “With a strong bond to tennis, LACOSTE has been supporting tennis events and players throughout time. This tournament is one of tennis’ most prestigious events and we are delighted to elevate our support this year to being the official outfitter of the tournament”.

Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free said: “We are pleased to announce LACOSTE’s official apparel and footwear sponsorship. LACOSTE has been a long-term supporter and we hope to continue to receive their support in the years to come.”

Setting the standard for high quality tennis outfits and polo shirts, LACOSTE is today the top choice for numerous professional tennis players. This year, the LACOSTE Ambassadors Richard Gasquet and Andy Roddick are playing in the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships, with Andy Roddick making his debut in the tournament. The two players will be participating in LACOSTE activities happening around the tournament, such as the yearly LACOSTE Tennis Clinic for disabled children. “We are proud to have such strong players as brand ambassadors, demonstrating fair play both on and off the court”, said Philippe Lacoste.
